Calculating Payroll Taxes
When you Preview a payroll or Approve a payroll on Check, we calculate payroll taxes for all employees based on the earnings, workplaces, benefits, post-tax deductions, and company and employee tax setup information associated with that payroll.
Depending on the company and employee setup, this can either be very straightforward, or quite complex. Complexity in calculation is usually driven by things like:
- Employees who live and work in different states
- Employees who work across state lines
- Complex earnings, benefit, and deduction structures
- Unique company and employee types (e.g. 501(c)(3) organizations, agriculture companies, or employees on a visa)
