Use cases
Currently, the checklist component serves the "filing preparation" use case, enabling employers to prepare for year end tax filings. In the future, the checklist component may be expanded to support additional use cases beyond filing preparation, as defined by the topic body param.

Post-Year End
After December 31, users will no longer be able to change data for their annual filings, however, this component can still be used to access W-2s and W-2Cs as they become available.

What triggers the "Fix Now" button?
The first item on the checklist, "Review company tax information," will show a stronger call to action with a primary "Fix Now" button if a company is missing one or more pieces of company tax information. Missing company tax information is defined by having setup_parameters in either the blocking or remaining steps of the company's onboard status.

Not seeing the "Preview employee W-2 filings" step of the checklist?
The W-2 preview item on the checklist is only surfaced for companies that have W-2 data in the current year. Contractor-only companies or companies with no pay history yet will not see this item.
